So no one on the internet uses agave for anything and no one has any opinion or thoughts on the matter?
Impressive bunch.

I've seen it at Costco and thought about what it would be like to brew with. I'd say look at what kinds of sugars are in it. Honey tends to add a dryness in higher concentrations. I'm thinking it would be similar.

We are the most impressive bunch on the internet!

Absolutely nobody on the internet will be able to tell you if the light blue agave is better or worse than the standard amber agave for the completely unknown use that you have in mind.

High fructose can stick a fermentation with standard brewer's yeast, treat agave like super-honey.

I think I know why nobody answered, Grod. Nobody has tried it.

And why has nobody tried it, you ask? Did you notice the prices and quantities? Speaking for myself only, I can't spend near 100 bucks for 55 lbs of something I know nothing about.

I hope you find answers that satisfy you, but don't criticize us for not knowing something. We're just these guys, ya know?

your right guys i'll just wait. i hope there is someone out there who brews mead or something(pulque). I'm not criticizing that no one has used it.Just upset no one would even lend an opinion, on top of the fact i can link you to at least 10 other threads of mine that got no response, some that were bumped a number of times over the time of a year.

Maybe you just ask hard questions. (A joke, I can't figure out how to put a smiley in here.) I picture a huge room full of people, looking at each other in silence, hoping somebody else can give a sensible answer. You can hear a pin drop.

I would like to know too. Is this the same as the agave syrup I saw at Wally-World this morning? If it's close enough, might be a way to try it out without buying a carload of the stuff.

Hi. I split a batch of cream ale a few years ago and primed half with brown sugar and the other with Blue Agave Sweetener/Nectar. This was the brand we got at Costco at the time, but I think they are now carrying their own brand. I checked my notes and I found that I used 3.6 oz (by wt) to prime about 15 Grolsch bottles. My recollection was I liked it better than the brown sugar, and the beer had a slight "Tequila-ish" flavor. I didn't put it into the boil as I think any of the aromatics/flavor would get boiled off. When I used it to prime in the bottle, I got some of the flavor attributes. If you are looking for the most flavor contribution, I'd guess of the two that you referenced in your OP, whichever one has the strongest flavor would be the best (as almost all of the sugar will get chewed up by the little yeasties.) Hope that helps. Ed

I've used agave nectar in some brews. I love it! Again, not sure what the exact use is desired for from the original post.
Basically though, I've made some ambers and use about 4-6 oz. in a batch at the end of the boil. Boosts the ABV and imparts some flavor. I've tried a lot of them. Not for brewing but mainly for margaritas. ( I do live in Mexico now BTW). Anything labeled 'light' I don't care for. Buy that stuff if you want a sugar substitute for your coffee. The Sam's Club label (Daily Chef) is not bad, but still on the 'thin' side. Both in color and flavor. But if I'm buying off the shelf, I love the large 2 pack sold at Costco. 'Wholesome' is the brand label and its Organic Blue Agave. Nice amber color, nice rich flavor. Agave syrup is so expensive, (more so here in Mexico wouldya believe?) I stock up when in the States. I can usually find some high quality label trolling the shelves at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods too. But as I said, I'm not using gigantic amounts of it, but for what its worth, that's my experience with it.
