Just refurbished this pre WWI Edison cabinet to fit my Technics turntable for when I move in with the special lady friend. It had been in a barn in northern NH for decades and included the original bill of sale and a pristine owners manual.

Here it is cleaned up:

Very excited to throw on something loud and see how long it takes for the neighbors to send an angry email...

Also can we get another vinyl bif going?

Revisiting some oldies but goodies this morning. Alesmith was a gateway craft brewer for me back in 2007. Their Old Numbskull, Speedway, Wee Heavy , and IPA forever changed the way I looked at American craft beer.

I had not had an IPA of theirs in over five years, but it still holds up well. Interesting that I now consider this a strong APA, and not an IPA.

And the Album? Well, It's my generation, motherfuckers.

My project for the past six months has been converting an old kitchenette into a bar. I'm about 90 percent complete. Drinks good.

New Arcade Fire. Got the night version which does look and sound incredible. Giving it a full spin now but I don't think I'll end up loving it. Funeral is one of my favorite albums and Neon Bible and Suburbs were both great. Reflektor was a bit rough and this is heading in that direction.

The packing is awesome though. Gatesleeve in a thick plastic housing that has the star effects on it in the sky and it has a fake ad brochure as the lyric insert.

Not me anymore. In the 70's and 80's I was very into that. Most of my equipment dates from that period, but not my turntable, I have no idea what became of it. It was a decent Thorens. Now I use a budget audio-technica(which I plan on replacing someday), and high-end cartridges just don't make sense.

Does anyone mess with different stylus and cartridge on their turntables?

I just use a shure m97x for newer records and a vintage shure m91ed for older stuff. The m91 sounds great, I'm just using an eBay stylus but I've been eyeing some JICO needles.
