These records were after my bouncing souls phase but I’ve always had a soft spot for them for some reason. Actually saw they have a new album coming out this Friday. Might give it a whirl

Haha, when did your phase fizzle out? Jersey boy here so the Souls are in the blood, among other reasons. Can say they haven’t put out a bad record (my opinion). Yeah saw that too, they’re doing a signing at a local record shop Friday. Have tickets for a comedy show tho. They usually play every year outside at the Stone Pony. This year The Bosstones are opening, so I’ll be there as usual sitting outside (for free on the beach) listening to the tunes.

Yeah saw that too, they’re doing a signing at a local record shop Friday. Have tickets for a comedy show tho. They usually play every year outside at the Stone Pony. This year The Bosstones are opening, so I’ll be there as usual sitting outside (for free on the beach) listening to the tunes.

No one will ever win an argument with me that Maniacal Laughter wasn’t their best album and peak. Also loved the debut (good bad argyle) and then the S/T after Maniacal. But even that self titled was half assed IMO. Kate is Great was phenomenal but the other “good” songs were way lackluster compared to those early records. Hopeless Romantic was a huge miss with me and then I stopped paying attention. So maybe those other later records are decent. Shouldn’t speak one way or the other of them. But Maniacal Laughter is an all timer for me and right there with Dropkick’s Do or Die, the first three Rancid albums and Juvenile Product from Swingin Utters as my fave street punk records ever.

eBay, discogs, Reddit. It’s not terrible but most are overseas.

Speaking of expensive, did you know that Duncan has a double LP of all collabs with other noteworthy 90s punks? Fat Mike, Frankie (Leatherface), the Hi-Standard guys. That one's a big want.

This whole 10” “mini-album” is ******* awesome, but the first track SLIPT might be a top 3 Snuff jam for me.

Hadn't checked out the podcast until your rec....this is exactly what I need in my life. I've listened to the first and last episode so far and its mostly been just him sitting around nerding out about punk music and vinyl. Thanks for calling this out.

Yeah man, killer podcast. Off the top of my head, the ones w members of Op Ivy, Poison Idea, Sonic Youth and Spazz were all fantastic. As you said, it's just people celebrating punk fandom.

I always mean to make it down for their Asbury shows, might actually do it this year.

Children of Bodom - Hexed. Never got into these guys myself, but my wife really likes them so we pre-ordered this way back when it was announced. It's fine I guess....beer is a pleasant surprise.

I think this is the last of our new pick ups that I need to listen to. Like the last, this album is hers and I never got too into these guys....also not really a fan of Aimee Allen's politics in the past, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Last album got me in the mood for some actual American ska, as opposed to the pseudo-ska that some bands try to pass off. Beer is the same, I'm already belligerent enough without slamming stouts. Anyway, I've always felt these guys are one of the most underrated bands to come out of Boston. These guys were at the forefront of third wave ska in this country and it seems whenever I mention them people either have a blank look on their face or act shocked that someone would know who they are. These guys along with bands like The Toasters are the reason that all the ska and punk-ska bands that people know even exist.

Sadly, this and Tuba City are the only Bim Skala Bim albums I own on vinyl. I guess now that I don't live in Boston I should just bite the bullet and buy the rest on discogs, but it's so much more fun to find them in a used bin.

My aunt lives right behind the OTB place there in Fords. Always make a stop in Vintage Vinyl when I go and visit her.

**** yeah. I almost bought that album like 20x over the past couple years but could never justify the price. Do you have a decently priced source? Weight of the World and Last Believer are all time jams for me.
