I'm pretty sure if you shift the timeline of this band 20 or so years into the future they would have been one of my favorite bands and I would have seen them live dozens of times.

Used to always listen to Bad Music for Bad People

Beer is the same; it is really making me miss having a bunch of people basically on call in Boston to split a bottle with. Album comes with both regular and half speed drum version of the album, listening to the regular speed version.

Love this band so much. Damian's podcast Turned out a Punk is fantastic and highly recommended if you haven't listened to it yet.

More Juju in the glass...record is Coathangers - The Devil You Know

This band has been around for a decade or so I think, but I was only recently introduced via a single called "**** the NRA". The song was super proto punk fists in the air right up my alley. Then via upcomingvinyl.com, I saw this was getting released with some pretty wax on Sacred Bones which is one of my fave labels (Amen Dunes, Moon Duo, etc). I was all over it. Well upcomingvinyl.com ****** up (Pierre Pressure you called it) and it wasn't on Sacred Bones (prolly assumed cause the SB logo is very similar to the pink triangle theme all over this)...rather Suicide Squeeze...which meh, I know to have put out some old emo stuff like Minus the Bear etc. So a bit bummed. Then I drop the needle and the first song "Bimbo" is all pretty and jangley with clean guitars and I had immediate regrets. But from that point on they take a hard left and find their swagger and get dark and layered and awesome. In retrospect, I definitely think that the sound on the first track was intentional misdirection to convey a message per the lyrics. This is kinda like what I would expect C.I.A. to sound like without all the electronics.

Plus look at this splatter. Such a sucker for this ****. Picture doesn't even do it justice.

EDIT: ****, I hate when I type too much.

I know I bitch a ton about these guys having flamed the **** out, but this record, or at least “Sleepy Silver Door”, will always be one of my favorite stoner records. That ******* riff is a monument in my mind...other than maybe Alec Eiffel by the Pixies, there is no other riff that continually plays in my brain for no reason and continues to impress me. Like who really comes up with this sort of brilliance? Jason Simon, that’s who. But so long ago. :(

Dead Meadow - S/T debut and the rare occurrence of peak instrumentalism right out of the gate.

Bigfoots in the bottle.

Heard a song (“Pictures from Spain”) by this dude last night on the latest episode of “You’re the Worst”. Quickly figured out who it was because it was clearly in the same orbit of Doug Paisley. Went and bought the record today. I don’t know what it is about this sorta **** right now that has me completely entranced. It’s like the musical equivalent of comfort food. I think I'd best describe as a branch of outlaw country? Definitely in that family tree.

Read a review that called it “cosmic country”. That fits.

Listening to that song now. A monstrous riff. This almost doesn't sound like the Dead Meadow I thought I'd heard.

S/T, Howls from The Hills, Shivering King and Feathers are all insanely good records. The drop off after those is staggering (as kbuzz says), but it doesn't lessen the greatness of those first four.

One of my friends in high school was one of the biggest kids in my grade. He wore the same thing every day. White t-shirt, red suspenders, jeans, oxblood red Doc Martin's. His head was shaved save for a spike of hair he greased down in the front, just like that. He was intimidating looking, but a total softie.

I havent listened to this when it came out, and could def squeeze some more enjoyment out of it...

...but "American Psycho" is my favorite Misfits album, no matter how hard I try to convince myself it shouldnt be the case, and despite the amount of rocks that get thrown at me for saying this in public.

Hadn't checked out the podcast until your rec....this is exactly what I need in my life. I've listened to the first and last episode so far and its mostly been just him sitting around nerding out about punk music and vinyl. Thanks for calling this out.

The baltimore version of don caballero?
Got to see em many years ago in a small gallery setting, the 2 geeeetarists had wireless guitars and would play while perched on boxes...they would run around in the crowd or even out of the venue to the street, just slayin it...#thegoodoledays
