Defer to sostark on this. Nabbed for 9 bills. Not loving it, not hating it. Curious where this vol 3 of randoms fits in their catalog?

Edit: oh sees vol 3 singles?, beer obvious.
This one's a grower, albeit one must probably be in the grips of fandom for it to hold. I think after this volume Dwyer has released one or two 7" since (a few 12" eps, but I think this will likely be the last singles comp). I think Dwyer realized he has a loyal enough fan base so the act of releasing 7"s to be collected later made less sense. Anyway, this collection is A LOT less consistent than Volumes 1 and 2, but as an obsessive I think it suits him and his proclivities. The first two cuts are so loose, shambling and home spun that they could easily turn off anyone unacquainted with the group. But once they have nestled themselves into your brain they will begin to scratch at the strangest of times. This is an odd and sods comp first and foremost, but it also contains a handful of first rate bangers and is really a hodgepodge fun house of yet more styles and sounds the man can conjure up, often on his own. This is in many ways the parting shot of Oh Sees mk1 and for that I am grateful to have it in my collection.

Same beer, this isn't quite as easy drinking as the last one. Album is Neptune's 2008 release, Gong Lake. I cannot express how highly I think of these guys. Also, '08 was a banner year for Boston local music with this, the previously posted Dresden Dolls album...Ho-Ag...Ketman...more...man, I miss those days.

Continuing down 2008 memory lane, we have Smile from Boris. Beer is the remainder of Double Mex...really don't want this beer to end.

I really need more vinyl Boris in my life. But everything is just so expensive on discogs and they never show up at local shop used. This is an underrated album from them.

I'd love to see reissues of some of their earlier stuff someday in slightly less limited fashion than they did for Absolutego and Amplifier Worship and the like. Lot of their releases from the past 10 years aren't too eye-poppingly expensive though, especially when you consider that a lot of their stuff isn't just a single LP.

But I feel like I can’t buy that **** until I own the classics though...and I struggle to find decent copies of pink album, etc for decent price tags. Might have to suck it up and work my way backwards through their discography eventually :(

So when asking at the record store a while back about albums that are good for late night listening (my current favorites are Tonight’s the Night and Nebraska*) OAR was recommend to me. So here we are. The album is a ride so far and it’s going to take a few listens to properly digest.

So I ask you TB, what do you listen to after a mentally exhausting day at work, driving down an eerily quite highway winding through the city lights on your way home?

*also Diamonds in the Rough
