For example, I spend a good bit of time spinning **** like this...

Why you always got to go and post bands I dislike for personal reasons? It took damn near a decade, but I can finally enjoy their debut album again.

Didn't know you had a personal dislike for them...I love blue album, pinkerton and A-side maladroit, then nothign and/or sporadic at best...I mean, Weezer definitely suck sright?

can't believe I'm youtubing in here, but

We'll find our own way home and sing out every song we know
No one can keep us down
And who gives a **** what anybody says
We'll live and love until we're dead
Holding on to what we've come to know
And on and on and on and on
And every time you hear this song be sure you are not alone

....

But i'm not living under them
When we could rise above
A culture that says we are better
Or worse than anyone ...that's not like us
That's not like us

Thank you, I can get behind this album. They apparently are playing here tonight too...hmm...

How would you describe? I'm having a hard time even now completely sober...
A noise band (of the non-harsh variety) and an indie band got into a horrible tour bus accident and the members of the two bands were fused together somehow and now have to make music together. I haven't listened to the full album yet, but what I've heard so far...you have songs like Mars that start off like some of the noise punk bands I've seen and songs like Skylab that at the start sounds like something right out of a 90s grunge playbook, but the vocals are so soft compared to what you see in those two styles.

Might change my opinion once I've digested some more of their music, but I'm sticking with this for now.

Imma check this out but...do you by chance have any recs for a less melodic, mostly heavier version of Battles? Atlas hooked me, but as I explored their stuff further I found myself wanting a bit more.

Not sure why I didn't immediately post this last night, considering Ian Williams was in this band and they are native to SWPA - Don Caballero is your answer.

Protip: If you see special pressings or autographed versions or whatever of an album you already own and you don't want to buy a second copy for yourself, just tell your wife and hope that she ends up buying one for herself. You won't technically own the fancy new thing, but you also weren't the one that bought it so you can go out and buy a couple albums for yourself without being called out for buying too many records.

I just bring in the copy I own for store credit towards the upgrade...and pay the difference :(

Thanks guys, I'll give those a listen later today. First, I've got some beer and vinyl to get through. Album is a comp of Giddy Up and Big Attraction from Amyl and the Sniffers.

Same beer, that was a short album. Next up is Daughters new album, You Won't Get What You Want.

I just listened to both of those today!

rare moment when I have a time for a spin. kbuzz will be disappointed I had to move my (rudimentary) setup out of the kitchen haha. was able to time the pic just right for those that might not recognize the cover art. Thrice has, since their inception, has been one of, if not, my favorite bands. I stepped away for a while in the mid oughts but came back bc I just couldn’t quit them. they’re killer live. this is by no means my favorite of their records but it’s solid. and growing much quicker on me than it’s immediate predecessor. I never would’ve expected the longevity of this outfit when I first picked them up in ~2001. esp compared to the style of music I was into at the time (looking at you, Juliana Theory) but they have evolved and adapted to the scene. they fit into a nice little niche, one that I am all over. and over and over.

would love to hear others’ thoughts if they’ve picked this up.

Bought some new to me used records in Michigan last weekend. They were relatively inexpensive and didn’t have grade listed, but so far are playing fairly well for the $3-$8 each I paid for them. Checking them out with some coffee (it’s there I swear but the way I have the records stacked rn makes it hard to get it all in).

I try so hard to somewhat vet my opinions on when bands turned a corner into butt-ness...don’t just wanna be the dude who had a fave era and opines ill-informed. And with this band, I feel like there is no argument, no doubt. This is their peak. Their magnum opus. All down hill from here.

They suck ass now.

Of Montreal - Sunlandic Twins

Beer obvious.
