Likely last for the night, another 2018 release. I only really know these guys from a Smashing Pumpkins cover they did many years ago, but my wife is a huge fan and there are one or two people on these boards that speak highly of them so I figure it's time to give them a good listen.

How is that? havent listened to them in a while, maybe since State of Grace...
You haven't missed too much as this was their first album in eight years. Album starts with the title track which is a pretty solid high energy way to start. Things mellow a good bit after that. Last night was my first listen through for it and I'm a bit lukewarm on it...it's fine couple catchy songs, but I don't know it's something I'll be going back to a lot. Wife seems to really like it though, so there's that. They still put on a hell of a live show though, we saw them when they came through a few months back and I'd recommend seeing them at least one more time while you can.

Officially got laid off yesterday, so I can now start drinking stouts and posting vinyl before noon. Still not sure what my true feelings are on this beer, but at this point grabbing a few every winter is hardwired into me. Record slays though.

That is some **** news man. Take advantage - you'll be back at the daily grind before you know it.

Also 1993. This album might not even crack my top 20 for that year, but man do they put on a fun live show.

Jealous...that one's on my discogs wantlist

"Do you know who this is?"
"Nah, Who is 'this is'?"
+ the Here Comes the Sun cover...love it.

And that beer is my favorite shelf beer of all time.

Nice combo. You're not ******* around right now.

You don't even ******' know, it's been a ~24 hours. But I'm starting to get tipsy, so don't expect it to continue. And yeah, the Here Comes the Sun cover is one of my favorite things ever made. I'll leave this to you for Monday's honorable mentions, but you better not let me down.

I still remember when I got that album. I saw them at Harper's Ferry/Brighton Music Hall in Allston/Brighton. I got the record at the show and was walking home after...it was probably fall, so I had jeans and a hoodie on. I get to right about Harvard Stadium and a cop turns on his lights and sirens. He pulls up next to me to talk and I put my hood down and remove my headphones so I can hear him better. We go through the what were you doing tonight, I was at a show, here is the record, want to call their tour manager routine. Then he goes "well, we had a report of an assault and robbery but the person....<<pause>>...had short hair, so you're good, sorry for the inconvenience." At first I thought it was funny, it was the first time having long hair got me out of trouble. But then I realize....100%, he was looking for a black dude.

Anyway, leaving '93 and going back to Xocoveza.

I don't think she will appreciate the whole "some dude on the internet told me to get drunk and listen to records" explanation for my afternoon.

Can confirm from experience - does not go over well..

I filed that failed reasoning right next to these beauties:
"can we stop at this parking lot real quick so I can trade boxes with this dude from the internet?"
"Where am I going? To some dude from the internet's house to sit around and sniff beer with a bunch of OTHER internet dudes"

Just enjoying a slow afternoon as it turns into evening. Scored this early pressing of Our Mother the Mountain yesterday at the record store. It’s been well played but I like to think it’s accompanied alot of memorable moments in previous owner’s lives.

*edit: I’m always ISO freshish bottles of De Glazen Toren. This triple is a tad too sweet, but the fresh hops and lagered character make it a very easy drinker.

This was a tough lesson to learn. Somehow I've found a couple well behaved friends that are cleared for beer and vinyl at my house.

Was visiting Austin, Tejas recently and found this at End of an Ear. Love these oddball hip-hop records. ISO of more records like these if anyone can recommend.

What label is this on? That might help me recommend something similar (or even just check it out if you’re digging it) cause I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Did you know about it when you picked it up or was it an employee rec or something? I love weird ass hip hop.

EDIT: googled. My recommendations are Sole, Prefuse 73, Young Fathers, Beans/Anti-Pop Consortium...Anticon and Warp Records stuff.

Also...thanks for posting that, I’m digging.

My band in HS to early 20s played with those guys at American Music Cafe in Murrysville. Show sold out plus. All the people were apparently there for VGS and I dont think one of them watched us play. It was super weird. Literally like 300 people stood outside while a few friends and family watched us play.

More wet hop ****...

And more Ty Segall ****...this, his second side project release of 2018 (the other being an increasing favorite of mine - collab with Tim Presley aka White Fence)...in addition to arguably his most ambitious "solo" release Freedom's Goblin...AND another 2018 release slated to come...all covers, Fudge Sandwich (Sparks? Funkadelic? Lennon? Yep. **** yeah.)

I swear I don't work for Ty's advertising team, I just think he's good at music...

That's ******. These days I try my best to get there for the opener and give each band a shot. I've "discovered" several bands that way and sometimes they're even better than whatever I went to see. Other times they are an arrogant ****** on a unicycle or a kindergarten teacher singing about sharing or some **** but...whatever, they at least deserve a chance. Except unicycle guy, **** that dude.
