Shannon and the Clams are dope.

This album is likely my all time favorite crate digging find.

It can be super difficult to find sludgy or slightly obscure west coast punk in New York - and Generic Flipper was always one of my all time wants.

So while thumbing through the new wave section at A1 in the East Village about a decade ago, I stumbled across this ideal original press gem. This sludgy beauty came complete with a beer stained cover (which is really apropos of the music), multiple price stickers starting at $1, and a lyric insert.

I'm not sure why the album needed a lyric sheet when the entirety of the lyrics to the classic Sex Bomb are:

She's a sex bomb
My baby - yeah

This was the other album that the kids wanted me to buy (shrug, I guess colorful?). Swelling pride being able to say that daddy already had this album. “Bought it months ago”.

Goat band. You have inspired me:

Well the lights, and the sound, and the rhythm, and the noise hit my body like 1000 dances

Back when I was in the game I used to be tasked with picking up subterranean orders from their headquarters. Around 2000-2004 that place was THEE goldmine. Tupper had no way to update his catalog and there was uncountable treasures stuffed in every nook and cranny and filing cabinet of the cobweb and dust draped warehouse. Sometime near the end of the 00s Grux put two and two together and started clearing out the aged treasures on eBay but the greatest scores of my life came from before his harvesting. I still have my invoices and can’t believe the rarities I picked up for pennies. Salad days....
