Does everyone recommend trashing the beer from your primary used to test FG? Also, I've still got a half inch of krausen and some airlock activity after seven days on this IPA. Is it worth even testing the FG yet?

You can throw away the sample or drink it, just don't risk contamination by pouring it back into the fermenter.

If your IPA still had 1/2 inch krausen it isn't done yet. That doesn't mean you can't take a sample, as long as you follow good sanitation procedures. It is always safer to leave it alone until it's done.
