Temperate controller for freezer

Hey all!
Recently just bought a freezer for fermentation and wondering if anyone has suggestions on a temperate controller? I have done a good amount of reading about different brands/styles but would like to hear from some folks that actual have one or have had a couple to compare. Thanks is advance!

Build one from an STC 1000, it's easy and you won't regret it. There are lots of threads and youtube videos on the subject.

If your familiar with an Arduino you can find some information on the STC 1000+ project that adds special features to the STC 1000.

Lots of options but I reckon one of the most popular for those who're looking for true "plug and play" is the Inkbird ITC-308.
Otoh, at the opposite end of the hands-on metric I run BrewPi devices for my fermentation fridges and my keezer...

I second the itc-308, I have one on my fermentation chamber and keezer, they work perfectly.

I have two STC 1000s and wish I would have gotten the above mentioned ITC 308s. By the time you furnish an enclosure, cord, extra wiring, and your time to make the STC 1000 functional, the $20 savings is more than eaten up.

Another vote here for the ITC-308. super easy to set up and use. Currently selling for $35 on Amazon. Sure, you could make one yourself from an STC 1000 and maybe save a few bucks, but for me my time is worth much more than the few dollars I would have (maybe) saved doing it myself.

Just an update, I went with the Inkbird ITC-308 and it is working wonderfully!

I've got the inkbird mentioned above and a johnson controls 419...

I have to use the 419 on my larger freezer and use the inkbird on a small freezer from Sam's.

Both work well but watch the amperage draw on your freezer and get the appropriate controller that can handle the amperage on turn on ( turn on has amperage spike and you'll fry some of the lower end inkbird models that can't handle the higher amperage)

Good to know! I have it hooked up to a smaller chest freezer, think I’ll be alright in the long run? I have had it plugged in for about 2 weeks now with no issues.

Look at the label on the freezer and compare it to what your inkbird can handle..

I got my johnson controls 419 off eBay for less than 40 shipped....
