Good morning everyone. I have an SSBT Unitank at home and I've been wanting to get the temp control for it (not the glycol unit, just this) but it's a bit pricey. However, I received a Spike gift card the other day and it would cover the cost of the spike product. My question is: Would the Spike product shown here work on the SSBT 7 gal unitank?

Theoretically should but you don't need the coils with it. Though if you're looking at using the gift card you could apply it better towards other accessories than the temperature controller. For example, you could get a comparable inkbird controller for under $40, a submersible pump (12V bayite for $30 or not food safe for less), and tubing for much less than $280. Heating would be more difficult if you wanted a wrap, but I tend to cool the first few days then let it climb. In the few times I do need to heat, I just use an aquarium heater ($15) in the cooler that I originally stuck ice in.

My basement usually gets pretty cold, to the point of where by day 2 i'm usually having to warm up the fermenter. So the heater comes in handy.

Ahhh, I gotcha now! Buy those things separately and skip the coil which saves some money. I was missing the fact that you could buy those things separately from them. Then it would allow me to buy a few more things as well. Good thinking!

FWIW I have Spike and SSB either was you go the heaters have decent power. I’ve kept fermenters at 70 in sub zero temps with just the heater
