Hi All,
cannot find a lot of info on whether or not anyone has made a Mead with Tea Tree or Manuka Honey. I had found 2 jars of "Hive + Comb Australian Tea Tree Honey" for crazy cheap...each jar is 1kg(2.2lb) got both for $25 all together and want to experiment! But do not want to waste it if it turns out to be "off tasting" like if you use Eastern Buckwheat to make a Traditional...(yes I know some EB Trads are great)...maybe a blend would be best? Any comments would be great!

I wish I could afford some of that to make a mead with.
Where did you get it for that price? If they have a website, I may sell a tool just to get the honey!😲😥🤣. Even if they don't have a website, I'm close enough to Maine that I would drive there.
If nothing else, here are a couple of links to OLD threads that might be of some help to you (or not).

Hey thx for the postings...after some more research I found that there is a meadery in New Zealand that makes Manuka Mead Commercially...as well as another in Australia...I would assume that shipping would cost as much as flying there to sit at the tasting room! So with not a whole lot of info...im just gonna do a gallon batch Trad and see what happens...as flavors develop, I can change course and make it a melomel or spiced mead...Dan-O...i was at TJ Maxx in Brunswick Maine with the wifey...they have clearance stuff from other stores that close...they have kitchen stuff...pots, pans, gadgets, spices...Honey! It's always changing but got lucky a few times and it's always a fraction of the actual price

Nice score, man! Please keep us posted on your progress. I've always been curious about the Manuka.

Manuka honey costs two arms and a leg in my neck of the woods. But that said, most folk who buy it seem to do so for the alleged medical benefits this honey has to offer. I am a born skeptic (my Scottish background), so my working assumption is that menuka honey has a powerful marketing lobby: health benefits, yeah. right.
