The coopers kits I've made have been way above "pub" standards.

Of course, i used dme instead of sugar as extra fermentables, which is where most people go wrong.

As for temperature going over a bit, while it won't give you the best results ever, it should be okay after 2 weeks fermenting and a few weeks in the bottle to clean up.

Same as that. The 2 can kits are even better, all be they a little more expensive. Not sure what's available to you in Finland or the US but over here there are a good selection of 2 can kits. Woodeforde Wherry is the last kit I did, an English Bitter - very good!

1) i'm fine with being helpful and informative, as long as it's truthful.

2) it's 11:34 pm here, therefore i've been drinking for some time now, therefore my attempt at pointing out a non-truth in a humorous way came off wrong.

shart.

How is what I said not truthful?

What I said is at least as truthful to his beer, as you telling him about yeasts that he didn't use to brew an IPA.

Maybe I could have been more specific, but from the original post and him saying it was an IPA, I didn't feel the need to inject information on hefe and Saison yeasts and confuse the person.

The information I gave was truthful based on an IPA.

thats great advice thankyou. yep thinking of moving onto extract, or just get another kit and throw something else in there like more hops or sour cherries or something???

Make your own kit would be a decent route to take

Loads of great recipes in the database. You don't need to restrict yourself.

Get a recipe to work off, some quality extract, hops, yeast of YOUR choice, some distilled water and you will get really good results.

A couple of tasty brews under your belt and there will be no stopping there I imagine.

Following on from the other thread, the canned kits are extract, (sometimes with hops already incorporated).

BEst of luck with the next steps.
