tank quantity gauge

I recently built a keezer using the home depot freezer that was on sale in November. With the kegs in there, I can't see the strips on the side to check the quantity of beer left.

I was wondering if anyone had devised something like a gas gauge for a lawn mower. Something like this: Amazon.com: Gas Cap with fuel gauge For Simplicity # 171252 2171252: Patio, Lawn & Garden

It would be awesome of something like this was built in to the top of the kegs. anyone know of anything like this?

I tried to post this a few minutes ago, and it didn't seem to post, so I'm trying again.

Something on top of the keg like this could be very handy, easy to read, and would let you know when you are getting low and it's time to brew more beer.

Pressure rated sight glass on the exterior of the keezer somehow? It could actually be pulled off somehow... Then again, I am a noob to all this and may just be blowing smoke out my &$$

I disagree, a fresh approach is often the answer.
And as long as it's out your rear and not in someone elses I think we're all good,

You could do something like that but you need to ensure that it is sealed properly and is made out of materials that will not effect your beer. Most digital scales I've seen need to be powered up, zeroed out, and then weight placed on them.

There are some that can have the auto off feature turned off when they are externally powered.

hmmm... ya'll got me thinking (of a project i definitely don't have the time for). A cheap/used lab scale with a rs-232 output are abundant on labx and ebay. The scale can be queried periodically for total weight, and knowing the tare weight the %full can be displayed.

I may add this to the list of beer projects (to be interspersed/diluted with the honey-do list).
