Read.

I had no idea it had gotten so bad in Zimbabwe. Mugabe's thugs chopped off the feet and a hand of the opposition leader's wife, then burned her alive.

I'm not trying to make a statement here or get a political, but this is unreal.

yeah I had no idea, about how bad it was over their either until, I chose South Africa as a country to do a presentation on last week. Evidently their borders are being over run by people fleeing Zimbabwe, causing a lot of issues in South Africa. Pretty said situation over there, hell pretty much the whole continent, is screwed in many different ways.

Its really scary how things work over there, Those militia or whatever they are called take no prisoners. They don't care who they hurt women, children etc to intimidate or hurt people. It's pretty sad.

Mugabe is nuts. I feel really bad for all of those who have to put up with that guy. I am very suprised he has not been taken out yet.

Things are tough all over Africa - very turbulent times. The horrors of the collapse of post colonial puppet governments. Interference creating need for interference creating need for... it's a bad spiral for the people of Africa being made worse by collapsing currencies and lack of food and water and rampant disease unchecked warlords...

Sad situation.

Last night on both NPR and Canadian Public Radio, they had interviews with Mugabe Spokespersons I couldn't believe the unmitigated arrogance and gall the regime has..."This is a free and open election!" They both claimed.

Yeah while the opposition candidate is in hiding at the Danish embassy fearing for his life.

Reports like this have, sadly, been coming out for months ever since the March 29 election. I have read many of the articles, whole villages being burned alive in churches while town men are castrated in public..... and all sorts of other unreal atrocities. It is horrible, and inhuman.... but at the same time, we will never help them after what has happened in Iraq. Without making a political statement, Americans are very willing to help people for two or three weeks, but after that switch back to watching Brittany's crotch or whatever, and decide that war is a terrible and unjust thing. Then we end up with 6 years of everyone and there brother coming up with reasons to blame everything int he world on the president. I feel horrible for all those people, God be with them.

Mugabe saved Rhodesia from the successes of the colonial government. Rhodesia was a very successful country with a strong economy and Mugabe, with the help of the United Nations, kicked out the colonial government, took all the farms away from the white farmers and redistributed the land that now lies unproductive and fallow. Rhodesia went from a net exporter of food to the current Zimbabwean government which relies upon handouts to feed its people. Another UN African success story.

I know this stuff goes on more than we hear about, but that might be the most atrocious news story that has reached my eyes in recent memory.

An innocent woman being dismembered, then burned alive? All for political (and surely economic) power? Disgusting!

Let's not forget disarming the people by confiscating all guns, you know to make them more safe.

See everyone knows this happens and knows about the state of things in many african nations. The problem is that most people just dont care. Why do you think they dont ever do anything on africa on and primetime news, Because no one cares, Only the special interest groups that help over there have any idea of what is going on, and there being killed also.
