Table for Motorized Grain Mill

I bought a 2'x3' stainless steel table to use to mount my motor and grain mill. It has a support underneath the center of the table. This is where I am planning on mounting the motor and mill.

Would removing a six inch section of the support be a bad idea? I would need to remove it for the grain to drop in the bucket. The motor would not need anything removed. If I move the mill over, I then have to remove part of 2 supports to drill holes for the motor.


This is where I plan to mount to motor and mill, followed by a picture of the table, and finally how it should look when I am finished.

Let me know how that motor works for you. I have the same mill. Also, are you still at the factory setting of .027" gap?

Nope, take it out.
When you bolt down your hopper, it will restore some stiffness.
The supports are there, ( for support, naturally!), but to prevent the big panel from "oil canning", and popping from "high to low", in relation to it's edges.

It's spot welded in, yes?

I take it that you are only removing the "hat" section of the support, ( the part that does NOT touch the table, ) Yes?

Its at 0.024" now, I plan to increase it before the next use. I replaced the screws that adjust the roller with thumb screws. Just hand tightening them wasn't good enough which widened the gap considerably. I readjusted it but its a bit too small.

I was just planning on removing enough of the support to allow grain to go through, which would be less than 3"x6". And yes just the hat section, not the part thats connecting to the table.

Edit: Extend your chute a little past the cutout area, ( as you probably surmised), so the hat section catches no grain!
