I use this VFD on one of my pumps available on ebay under many names for $100.00 or less. It is a single phase in and three phase out. For the mill I use a Bodine gear motor.

I ended up using the method I mentioned in post #22 above. I used this motor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GCXX29H along with its corresponding hub: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096KLHV1V for a total cost of $26.69. I already had a cabinet, an old computer power supply and some spare wire. Here it is in action. Works great. The power supply is mounted inside the cabinet under a shelf that the bucket sits on and vents out the back.

Sorry to get back so late, but here are more pics. Maybe I'll make this its own thread?

This is a newer 240v single phase input, 240 three phase output. It's in a cabinet that runs a mill and a lathe, but not at the same time.

Theres a pic of the motor tag on my gear motor. Then it just turns a shaft with a lovejoy coupling.

Update on my mill motor project using a tiny, geared-down motor. It worked fine for many batches, but... My most recent batch is a RyePA. The motor got most of the way through the very tough, small grains of rye malt and then tanked. It seems the gears are likely plastic and that one or more teeth broke. Now it won't even mill malted barley. Dang! Need a tougher motor unit, I guess.

For now, I've reverted to ye olde manual method, putting my lovely JSP cast aluminum crank arm back into service.
