Hey guys,

Just installed the Syl-2352 pid controller and when I calibrate it in cold water the temps read fine (about 33 degrees). When I set the temp to say 154 degrees Fahrenheit, the water is actually around 170 (according to other calibrated thermometers). My offset temp is only 2 degrees and I have run an auto-tune.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

This is not uncommon. There is an offset setting in the config. Dont have the docs in front of me but it might be "pb" (I alwasy think of lead). I had to set mine about three degrees. Didnt check when the temp was low as I was most concerned around mashing temps.

Edit: OK found it. From their docs:

4.10 Input offset “Pb”
Pb is used to set an input offset to compensate the error produced by the
sensor or input signal itself.
For example, if the controller displays 5 oC when probe is in ice/water mixture,
setting Pb=-5, will make the controller display 0 oC.

Do you have the correct input set? Is it set to RTD or K thermocouple?

They usually come default set to k thermocouple and you need to switch it to RTD...

Cheers.
