Hi all,
going to be going to Switzerland soon for work, in the Geneva area - anyone know of any good beer over that way? Am guessing I'll be able to get some German stuff, don't know of any Swiss beers!
Cheers

Brauchen Sie eine ubersetzer? Do you need a translator?

There are alot of continental beers (from around the world) in Switzerland as well as many German brews. Wherever you go if you just ask for a beer you'll get whatever the locals are drinking.

Ein bier bitte! Be sure to use your thumb as one and your index finger as a two (with thumb extended)

When you want another one just say "nock eines" (knock I-nz).

Viel vergnugen! (literally "much pleasure" or as we would say "have fun")

Danke, ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, aber ich gehe in der nahe von Geneve, und Fransozich ist leider gespracht, und ich spreche keine Fransozich :(

oh, and whats the problem when ordering beer if you get one more than you expected?? Bonus!

You can find details of all the breweries in Switzerland here:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~patto1ro/swisbrew.htm

Switzerland has a very healthy microbrewery/brewpub scene. There are two ditinct beers cultures:

- in the German-speaking areas there are quite a few regional breweries producing lager
- in the French-speaking areas there are more new breweries and the inspiration comes more from Belgium
