So this is my question, is there any problem with using a lager yeast on a ale recipie... for instance can one make a brown ale wort but then lager it?

It would seem there is SOME huge negative to this in my mind, but i cannot see how, so i am looking for advice.

As well could you MIX yeasts in a fermentation, use half S04 and half s05, just trying to understand how it all works!

Lagering is more a condition of temperature and timing. Any grain grist can be lagered using a lager yeast. It may not be appropriate for the style your are brewing...but who cares. That said...don't plan on getting a true Belgian Saison if you lager at 54 degrees.

There's no real issue with mixing simple yeast strains like the 04 and 05. The only issue is if you want to brew a consistent beer, following a strict recipe is essential.
