Sugar Creek Malt

Anyone know if Sugar Creek is still up and running? I've been checking their website for the last 8 months and they are out of stock on just about everything. I hope it's just a temporary occurrence as I really enjoy using their smoked malts.

As far as I know they are still in business. Pretty sure they grown their own barley and then malt it and most barley is either a spring variety or a winter variety. Stuff that is out could have been malts made with last spring's barley and they need to wait for this year's crop.

They do tend to be out of stuff, and they're also not very good at updating their website. I've emailed directly a few times and they've found me a bag of something listed as "out of stock."

I had my last bag delivered (55 lbs of Vienna) two months ago, so they were up and running then.

Great Fermentations also carries their malt, and sometimes has a stash of something they're out of at the moment.

I emailed them a while ago and never heard back from them, that's what got me wondering. I emailed them a few years ago and they were quick to respond.
I have used Great Fermentations to get some of their smoked malts. They do seem to have more in stock than the actual maltster. I would just assume it's fresher straight from the maltster, especially important with smoked malts.

I get the impression that it’s a passion project as much as (or more than) a business. Sometimes I have to email twice to get a response.
