Substitute Hops for Gesho

I have a recipe for a braggot that calls for gesho root rather than hops. I can't find gesho in my area (nor have I ever tasted it) so I'm wondering what kind of hops would be a good substitute for its character.

Can't give any input on a substitution but contact Ethiopian restaurants/grocers if you want to find gesho. You definitely won't find it in TerreHaute. . .Check Indy or possibly Bloomington (college town = lots of ethnic specialty places.)
