So I am on my third batch of beer.
My first 2 batches were kits from the local home brew store.
The third batch is the Fat and Tired recipe from the recipe database on this message board.

When I opened the Primary fermentor to transfer the wort to my secondary fermentor, I noticed something sort of floating in the top of he wort.

What this looked liked was a clear 'stringy glob' of protein. Kind of like someone spit in the beer.

I did taste teh wort and its really very astringent, but I also knew that this one would take a while to mellow out.

Is the goo I spotted int he wort anything to worry about?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the "glob" is on top of your beer, it could simply be leftovers from the krausen. Without a photo it's hard to tell.

"Astringent" is a term I would apply to most of the "green" beers I make (only a week or so in fermentation, and I like a lot of hops).

As many many people on this forum say, relax, let it finish fermenting, bottle the sucker and see what it gives.

Oh, and RDWAHAHB (or the best beer you can get ahold of...)

Cheers,
Awfers

I've seen those globs before. I'm sure it's just krausen that hasn't fallen yet, but post a picture of it anyways.

Did it look anything like this:
