OK folks. So I was just taking a gravity reading of a beer in my glass carboy. While putting the airlock back in and trying to get it snug, I accidentally pushed the rubber stopper all the way through the neck of the carboy. When I pulled it out, the airlock came up, but no stopper. So now I have a stopper floating in my beer.

Sadly this isn't the first time it's happened to me, but every other time it's been with a bucket, not a carboy. Anyone have any advice on getting a stopper out of a carboy?

Wait til you're done and have racked out if that carboy, then use the tea towel trick to get it out

yes. obv you wait til the beer is done. what is the "tea towel trick"? similar to plastic bag video below?

also, will that bag trick work w a 5gal carboy?

Similar in principle to that plastic bag trick. You stuff one end of a tea towel in then roll the carbou to get the stopper resting on the towel then you pull it out.

If this is a solid rubber stopper, after you get it out, look at the size symbol on it and go buy yourself the next size up. I use #10 in my PET carboys and could not possibly push it inside.
