I went to Phoenix/Scottsdale this memorial day mainly to take advantage of the smoking hotel deals this time of year(when the days becomes oppressively hot, hotel rates go way down). Anyway I almost always go to my absolute fav brewpubs here, Four Peaks brewery and San Tan brewery. I decided to leave my safe little bubble and venture out to a new brewpub. I decided on Fate brewery in Scottsdale. It's pretty unimpressive from the outside, in a forgettable strip mall between a BBQ joint and an adult apparel store. I also decided to try something other than hefe. I tried tasters of a rye and a sour. They both were wonderful and tasted......happy, not commercial-y. Finding this new place was like a happy accident! :D And I loved trying new brews. Anybody else happily surprised with new brewpub discoveries?

I think I always tend to find myself on the other side. With the great boom on small brew pubs and fledging breweries I tend to find myself sampling poor interpretations of style and often find myself saying I make better beer. But always willing to try something new

In Tucson, Sentinel Peaks brewery just opened up at Swan and Grant. Had their IPA and ended up drinking a whole growler to myself because it was so good
