Quite embarrassed to even ask this, but ....

2 of my 3 perlick faucets have the handle jacket stuck on: essentially it is piece 1 here that I am unable to unscrew:

It is just wickedly tight on here. I've some many things, some intelligent, some highly stupid:
a) heating the faucet up in hot water with baking soda
b) wd40 (stupid thing to do on something that touches a faucet, I realize this)
c) brute force with the help of a couple of wrenches, and those grip-assisting jar-opener things.

Nothing works, any ideas?

Are you trying to remove #1 without removing the handle first? I don't know if that will work - my very similar 525s I typically have to unscrew the handle first.

If you do have the handle removed, try screwing the compression bonnet tighter while keeping the handle jacket still...

Cheers!

Get some penetrating oil (i.e., PB blaster) or wd40 or 3n1 and give it a few minutes. I'd then wrap a towel around it and turn it off with a pair of channel locks.

I've got 4 650's that I occasionally disassemble and clean. Never had a problem though. That part should only be hand tight.

Well, the handles are off ... kinda. I'll post a picture after I get home to explain. Basically, for both handles, they are 2 part handles -- and the top (main) part screws off, but the bottom part is still attached to the jacket. So that's actually a second problem I have! I guess I didn't get the memo about "hand tight".

For example, one of my handles is a Boulevard handle, exactly like this:

The gold part below the wood handle actually unscrews from the handle. So I've got the handle off, but the jacket is on so tight that I can't keep the handle in one piece.

I tried WD40 last night, let it sit for 10 mins or so and it didn't help. I was thinking of trying some Blaster as well (have some at home already) but worried about the effects of it touching something that will eventually serve my beer, I typically only use that on my car. Also tried channel locks, but it's so tight that even that loosened and actually damaged the jacket a bit. I realize this is all my own fault for putting it on so tight.

I'm stopping at the supply store on the way home from work tonight to fill my CO2 tank, will see if they have any other ideas as well.

Tried a different set of channel locks last night and got both of them loose on about the 30th try :) I learned my lesson - hand tight means hand tight. Thanks all.
