strike temp with converted keg

I am switching over to a keg and false bottom for my mash tun. Is the strike temp the same for a keg as a cooler? I always preheated my cooler and my temps were usually very close, do I need to change anything when switching over? I have a burner under it some adjustments should be easy.

I use 75C strike water to hit 65C with my rubberized SS keg MT.

Edit: I dont preheat, And the thermal mass of a cooler is vastly different than a SS keg.

i use a keg and false gottom. for ten gallon batches i strike at 165 and always get a mash of 156-157. The kegs seem to keep the heat in pretty good

I leave my equipment outside all year around. I got tired of guessing how much thermal loss I would have from the keg since it's really cold in the winter and warm from being in the gargage during the summer. I now preheat the MLT with 170ish water. I reuse the water for my sparges, so no biggie/wastage.

I just used my converted keg for the first time. I pre-heated the keg with about a gallon of water and went 5 degrees high on the strike temp. I hit it spot on but ended up loosing two-three degrees right away and had to light the fire under it.

My keg mash tun is usually at 50 deg F, and on average, my strike water temp is 10 degrees F above my mash temp. It varies a little with the size of the grain bill, but I just go with 10 degrees since the HERMS will bring it up or let the heat bleed off that degree or two within a few minutes. I actually like to try and strike a little low since it's easier for the HERMS to bring it up a degree or two than to wait until it cools down, but if I'm within 2 degrees of target, I'm pretty happy.
