Daughter's at the doctor's, she's had a really high fever that's come and come for the past five days. Waking up in the morning north of 104°. We've brought her to the doc's a couple of times, but they haven't found anything yet. They've taken some pee, some blood, done a chest x-ray, we're waiting to hear what they've found. She first developed the fever like two weeks ago, but then it went away for a while, until coming back on Monday.

So, I'm a wee bit stressed out about this. I'm sitting at my desk while my wife is with her, I can't concentrate one bit. I'm waiting for her to text me with any news... I'm just a little bit freaked out right now.

Nothing to do except wait....

Nothing hammers a guy like the helpless feeling of having a sick child. It's on your shoulders to be the strong one. Hope everything works out for you and your daughter.

Hope all's well. Kids (I forget how old she is?) get all kinds of viral infections that cause high fevers. Our 2-yr old just had roseola a couple weeks ago; same basic deal...real high fever came and went for a couple days, then it broke, followed by a mild rash all over his abdomen.

Doc said control the fever as best we could, don't worry about the rash, everything was fine within a week. Hope yours goes as well.

my thoughts are with you. good vibes coming your way ~~~~~~~~~

My five year old just a nasty battle with mono believe it or not. It is scary but the best thing we can do for them is show them our strength. She needs you to look cool and calm, strong and confident. Good luck.

When I was a child, I had a fever. My hands swelled like two balloons. No wait, that was Roger Waters.

Seriously Bird, best wishes. I had pneumonia (the non-Rockin' kind) when I was young. I remember very little of it, except that I couldn't go outside and play that summer. I recovered and went on to have healthy lungs (that I later destroyed with cigarettes).

Hope Cassie gets well soon.

keep the faith bud, it'll all work out for the best. My grandson Michael had pnemonia a couple of year ago and he was fine after they put him on anitbiotics for a while

Best wishes to you and your little girl. Kids are very resilient. I'm sure with good care she will be fine in a few weeks.

I hope she gets well soon. It's good you are on top of this so to catch it early.

Prayers heading your way man! Hang in there.

Ed

Best of luck man, but at least it's just pneumonia. Sucks for now but odds are she'll be just fine in the long run.

If ya need anything you know what to do

Just saw this _bird, hope that everything goes well. I can only imagine what you're going through, stay strong (I would probably be a basket case).

Sincere, sincere thanks, everyone. Just taking a quick dinner break, wife's with Cassie at the hospital. We'll be there until Monday, it appears. She's on an antibiotic and is getting some fluids through an IV (she was a little dehydrated, naturally). Temp is down quite a bit, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much as it's tended to cycle quite a bit. I'll feel a lot better if she wakes up in the morning and isn't 104°.

The one thing that IS still freaky... when they did the chest x-ray, the pnemonia looks kinda like a big round mass in one spot of her lungs. So, they're doing another chest x-ray on Monday and hoping that is has broken up. If not.......

Well, let's just not go there for right now.

Freakin' kid, as sick as she's been, half the time all she wants to do is play... she's a fighter :D

Thank you again, everyone! It's really appreciated.

Just saw the thread, Bird. Sorry to hear about your sick daughter. I know I'm stressed when my dog is sick so I can't imagine how you're doing right now.

My thoughts are with you and the family.

Sorry about your situation Bird, I haven't dealt with pneumonia but have had my youngest in the hospital for two days for asthma complication. It really sucks. Kids don't understand and they hate all the poking and prodding, and you feel helpless because you can't convince them that the doctor is there to help.

Hopefully she'll be up and running in a few more days. Take care.
