I was wondering what people do to make sure there is no trub getting into their beer. I decided to use a strainer while siphoning the beer, wich was pretty effective. Is this a good/bad idea?? Better ideas??

a strainer *can* oxidize the beer, and produce a cardboard taste. (notice i said can, some will say it's definite, others will say maybe)

the general consensus around here is if you do not disturb the yeast cake or move the fermenter around much the trub will stay in the bottom, and for the most part, out of your beer.

happy brewing!

Unless you meant not getting trub into your wort then yes alot of us strain, and alot just dump it all in the fermenting bucket. If you meant any sediment getting into your racking bucket or bottle then you just use a siphon to rack over the trub/yeast
