I've recently expanded my keg family with 3 new AEB kegs from kegconnection. Now that my pipeline can accommodate more brew styles, I want to add another beer to my selection that I've ignored too long: Stout.

I'm looking for recommendations for a moderate strength (1.050 ish), easy drinking stouts. I like coffee, but not in my beer. Chocolate flavors are fine. Roast is fine as long as it doesn't scream coffee. I like Guinness, but overall I haven't had that many commercial Stouts.

Thoughts?
 
I'd recommend going over to the HBT recipe database, look under Stouts and sort by Replies

(or sort by OG and pick something in the 1.050 range)

work your way down until you find something which appeals to you and try it

for me, I'm dying to try brewing the Founder's Breakfast Stout, Yooper's Oatmeal Stout and the 10 FIDY clone
 
my buddy and I have done a lot of experimenting with stouts, and we came up with a decent recipe
5.25gallon

11lbs 2 row
2 pounds roasted barely
1 pound flaked barely
1 pound chocolate malt (add to mash last)
1 pound crystal 90-120
Optional 0.5-1lb carapil and/or black patent

we found a 90 min mash at 158 was yielding slightly higher o.g but 60min Mash at 155 was pretty close. Mashed with 3.5 gallons, sparked with 2.75 gallons. All boiled down to just over 5.25 gallons

We used all chinook, though williamette, fuggle, and Goldings are common for less bitter stouts. We did 1oz. @ 60, 2 oz @ 30
And 3oz @ 10min along with 1 cup of d-90 candi sugars to enhance gravity, fermentables, and color.

This recipe is my own original and is not meant to be a clone of any sort. I just threw these together based off of research and it came out awesome. Right around 8.6%, with a chocolatey taste, with quite a bit of bitterness and a nice hoppy taste. If you don't like hoppyness in a stout, use a Lower AA% hop like williamette and less of it more towards the end. Keep away from citrus hops
