I have a kegerator setup with a stout faucet...powered by a bottle of 75/25 beergas. Prior to placing the keg in the kegerator, I force carbed (warm) on CO2 at 30PSI for 24ish hours. Once placed in the kegerator, I purged the keg and hooked up the Nitro and dialed it in at 30PSI as well. After 48 hours, I'm not get any cascading....none! This is the first time I've carbed outside of the kegerator...does anyone have any explanations?

Thanks in advance...

Force carbing warm at 30 psi for 24 hours isn't going to fully carbonate the beer. I usually do this at around 40F and it generally takes me about 24-36 hours to carb fully. Not enough CO2 in solution = no cascade, the main effect is the CO2 being knocked out of solution by the N2 fleeing the scene.

I would stick the plain CO2 back on until it's fizzy and then give it another go

Thanks for the advice...I was going off what I was told at my LHBS. Kegging is pretty new to me; still figuring things out!

Depending on room temp, the most carbonation you could have had was still less than one volume. Top that with the short exposure time and you're lucky if you had more than .4 volumes or so.

I carb my nitro beers warm with straight co2. I only serve them with beer gas. Nitro doesn't absorb into solution.

cilestiok, room temp is 68-69...i am carbing on straight co2 and serving on 75/25 beergas as well. Previous stouts were carbed longer...this was my first at 30PSI for 24hrs based on advice from my LHBS.

I've purged & switched it back to straight CO2...I'll return to the beergas in a couple of days.

My mistake, mixed up the info listed in that line of your post!

30 psi for 24 hours is probably plenty if refrigerated. I sure love watching that cascade of bubbles. Makes for a good conversation piece as well.
