What are your thoughts here? I just washed a nice sample of wlp001 and it sitting in my fridge. I am brewing again in 10 days. Make a starter now and store that after it finishes or store washed sample and wait on the starter?

Your washed yeast will be fine, 10 days is not that far in time.

I've used washed yeast without a starter after storing it for 2 months.

As other has vasid you'll be fine after the 10 days. I've started harvesting from starters just because it is easier for me. If you don't have something to store the smaller samples of yeast in keep doing what you're doing. I think a month would be long enough to go without making a starter but I enjoy making starters, watching them grow, and feeling confident I pitched enough yest.
