An hour ago, hooked-up my new GE chest freezer to the SCT-1000. It was programmed to the following

1) Target Temp= 2c (Cold Crashing)
2) Differential= 1c
3) Compressor Delay= 3 minutes
4) Calibration= -1c

The STC-1000 brought the temperature down to 2c, and then kicked off like it is supposed to. However, 5 minutes later the the cooling is still off, and the temperature climbed up to 10c before the compressor kicked on. WTF?! Also, the freezer is being stored in the garage of my Florida home @ 91F. Is the STC-1000 not programmed correctly, or is the just Freezer not able to reach such low temps with the external temperature being so high? Thanks!!!!

Sounds like the freezer has it's own compressor delay of 5 minutes. A properly functioning freezer shouldn't have any problem cooling below zero in a 91* room.

If the freezer is empty and trying to go from 90 degrees down to "cold" and you are measuring the air temperature it's going to cycle like crazy until it reaches equilibrium. I'd be thankful the freezer is protecting itself...

Cheers!
