Long story short, I drunkenly made my starter 2 days ago.

I woke up today, brew day, and just remembered that I forgot to sanitize the beaker I used for my starter.... Do I dump it and push my brew day back? Take a risk and use it? What would you do?

Thanks!

I'd probably just go with it. It'll probably be fine, but worst case is you lose the batch. I guess it also depends on how much $ you've got in the batch and whether or not you are comfortable risking it.

I would say use it. Now it all depends if you're willing to risk losing a batch or not. If things turn out bad then you've learned from your mistake and will never do that again. If it works then you're golden.

Thanks guys. I'm going to take my chances and give it a go.

Thanks for the help

If you boiled it in the same beaker, you should be fine. The boiling water and steam would have sanitized the vessel.

Decant a little off the top and taste it. If it is infected, you should be able to tell

Nothing seemed off as far as smell.. but I didn't get to taste it. Unfortunately, I didn't boil the mixture in the beaker... finger's crossed. I just wrapped up the brew ~10 min ago.

Currently sitting in the keg! Should be ready to drink sometime this weekend. Super stoked... I didn't notice any sign of infection and she tasted good before carbonating.

Thanks for all of the help!

Your nose is next to your mouth for a reason. Back when we were less evolved we sniffed everything before we tasted it, to keep from poisoning our ignorant selves. Let your nose decide if the starter is bad or not.
