So.... I finished fermenting a northern brown and turned the fridge down to 34 and left it for a few days to crash. When I came back to it I noticed the liter mug I was using as a blow off bucket was empty. The negative pressure in the carboy sucked a liter of Starsan solution into the fermenter. It seems to be sitting on top of the beer so I was thinking Starsan being safe to consume in moderation I could just siphon it off and call it a day, what do you guys/girls think? I know the easy answer is just transfer it and see how it tastes but I don't want to waste the time if it has happened to someone else and it turned out to be no good. If I don't waste the time sanitizing the keg and transferring I might have time to brew tomorrow! Thanks for the help.

One liter in 5 gallons, if it was properly diluted, should not be a problem.

In the future don't use so much. You only need enough to keep the end of the blow off tube submerged.

I did the exact same thing with a Graff I just finished--about the same amount of Starsan also. I was even more of an idiot and stirred it into the beer instead of siphoning it off. Well, I nervously cracked one last night and it tastes exactly the same as the previous versions I have made--and I am still alive this morning!! So I guess no harm done. Chalk it up to a learning experience--it was for me.

When I dump trub or transfer out of my conical I continue to forget to pull the blowoff tube out of the starsan bucket.

Did it 3 times already....perhaps I subconsciously enjoy the taste.
