Now starbucks has seen the light, and in certain locations will fizz up your coffee or any of their existing drinks for no extra charge in certain locations like Atlanta, Austin, Singapore, and Hong Kong(?).

They have introduced lemon ale, and even HOT (!) carbed ginger ale (Asia only for the hot).
They seem to have a carbo machine, and I wonder how it works and if a clone will be sold to the general public.

There also was some announcement about Green Mountain Coffee offering "single serve" soda (or machines?). Maybe something to learn from, if not actually buy. I'm told my lemon soda is too acidy... maybe these newbies know how to mellow it without just drowning it in some other fruit juice.

Coke has just linked up with G.M. Coffee (investment), and sent sodastream stock sinking due to anticipated competing home soda machine. I keep hearing about this but can't find details. GMC stock skyrocketed 35% on the news... maybe something to nudge sodastream to new ideas or cheaper prices.

This is all I've got for you, I had heard a few months ago that Green Mtn Coffee trademarked the name Karbon for their SodaStream competitor. But that link that I have in my post to businessweek refers to it as the Keurig Cold. So far as I know, there aren't any details out at this time, but it does mention a possible 2015 release.

Personally I think it will flop. K-cup coffee I can understand, because there aren't many other good options for brewing single cups of coffee, but there are easier ways for single serve Coke. Anyone that sees this as a fabulous idea, I just want to ask, "You know Coke comes in cans now, right? Welcome to the 1960's."
