so... you're kind of a hockey fan, Jeff?

You've got your porn, I've got hockey. :D

Ewwww...hope Jeff put some Star-san or Iodaphor on it before he kissed it...

Germs, schmerms.....it's the CUP, baby! :ban:

Tomorrow's going to be a long day for me...starts with Guiness at a buddy's house for England v. Paraguay and ends with homebrew and hockey at my place. I'll probably have to squeeze some chores in the middle somewhere (of such a nature that it's not likely I'll kill myself or cause major property damage).

Yeah, I seriously feel bad for Engblom and Barry Melrose. Come on guys, we aren't stuck in the 80's anymore.

Bill Clement (Clement, Clement, hands of cement) reminds us (quite often) that Messier has 6 Cup rings but nobody ever mentions the fact that Clement and Engblom each have 2 rings (IIRC)

Yeah, the mullets are too much. Who's the fat guy and what's his claim to fame?

I don't really care how the guys look--I just don't like the blow-hard talking heads giving out useless crap. These guys actually know hockey and are giving great info.

Engblom said in one of the games in the earlier series to watch for players to shoot low late in the game when they were down by 2 goals. I specifically watched for that--and sure enough the team came back and won because they pounced on a few rebounds and put them in. When I played hockey they taught us that--and I can't tell you how many goals I saw popped in over the goalies shoulder off of a rebound after a low shot.

It is too bad watching hockey on TV doesn't do the sport justice. So much of the action is behind the scenes. You never see the beginnings of a breakaway goal because the camera can't see most of the line changes. Other stuff too, that one just comes to mind.

All in all I think the coverage is great. The between-period interviews & the post-game stuff is especially good. What pisses me off are the same f&%$ing commercials (BEEF!, PORK! VEGETABLE MED-LEYYYY!) over and over again. I miss the Ford Mustang (BEEP-BEEP!) ad with the hot blonde chick.

Come on.... you know you wanna do that fairy chick.... Seriously.... they play that car commercial with the little fairy like 50 times each game. But I don't think OLN has any more games in this series so you don't have to worry. :D

Well, I've watched about 6 hrs of soccer today, guess I'll just go ahead and settle in for the game @ 8! I wonder if my wife would go out and pick up some dinner...

LOL...call her cell phone and order pizza like that Digiorno commercial... :rockin:

That is SO something I would do to my wife. And my wife would SO spray me with the water hose too.

BLIND REFS!!!!!!

The high-stickign that gave the Oilers the 2 man advantage was ticky-tack...but then during the PP Carolina got away with at least 2 blatant boarding calls....lots of high elbows flying around too. Physical game!!!

I LOVE IT!!!!

The refs were incredibly inconsistent...I caught that boarding, as well. And some of the other penalties were WTF? Still, I plan on heading out to the RBC Center tomorrow night to catch the clinch on the big screens in the parking lot!

Canes were WAY more physical in that game last night. I think that was the edge that did it for them.

Super game last night. I was neutral on the outcome--but the series proved why playoff hockey is still king.

I really thought Edmonton would pull it out somehow--they finally woke up in the 3rd period. However, Cam Ward really put on a show. Congrats to him on a well deserved Conn Smythe.

The refs sure kept the whistles in the pockets last night too, and let the boys play.
