So, I have 5 tap lines in a freezer with a collar. Each has ~10 feet of Perlick brand liquid lines. I clean the lines with a round of water, BLC, and Starsan between corny kegs.

If I let the beer sit in them for a period of time... even a few hours... the 2-ish ounces that is probably in the lines seems stale. I usually run off the first couple ounces and chug 'em and refill my glass with good stuff. The stale stuff tastes a little cardboard-y what I imagine oxidized beer to taste like.

Anyone have the same issue? Are there brands/types of line that might be better? Is there anything I can be doing to help with this. I'm considering shortening all of the lines so there is less waste but my system seems pretty balanced for the dispensing pressure as it is.

I got the same lines with no issues. If I go out of town for a while I try and drain and clean but other than that tastes for if left for a few days to a week. Swap the line and take everything apart so it can soak, it could be something in the tap itself or the QDs.

2 hours is a bit short... you might just have a superb palate. I can taste the difference in the in-line beer at about the 4 day mark. Try changing just one line out with new hose and see if it fixes the problem. If so, it's time to change all the lines.

I will clear the line if it has been a week or more but never had a problem even after a few days. When I empty a keg and clean it I run water or starsan through the line till I fill the keg and it is ready to drink. I try not to leave starsan in the line for any period of time.
