Hello,

I'm converting my stainless wort chiller to a herms coil and curious to know what the general consensus is on connecting stainless steel quick disconnects to the brass hardware that is currently attached to my chiller.

I read on morebeer.com's site that their qd's should only be used on other stainless. I'm thinking that is in reference to connecting to the male/female end...

Any insight is much appreciated!

Galvanic corrosion can happen between two dissimilar metals and cause them to fuse together. With that said, in the plumbing world, you would be using teflon tape between the two metals to prevent leaks which would prevent the two metals from going through that Galvanic corrosion.

As long as you wrap teflon tape around the male threads a few times before assembling, you'll be fine.

Awesome, thank you, appreciate the tip. FWIW, morebeer.com got back to me and said the same thing as long as it's the threaded side. The qd sides should always be the same metal.
