I started brewing only a couple of months ago and am ready to brew a pilsner that requires lagering. I have a deep-freeze that I set up with a temperature regulator and I seem ready to go. I noticed. however that a 5-gallon carboy with an airlock is too tall for the cooler and won't allow the lid to close. Do they make specialty 5-gallon carboys that are short and squat? What options do I have?

If the carboy will fit with a little bit of head room you could try a blow off tube instead of the air lock.
