I occasionally take apart my ball locks to clean them inside or let them dry (esp. my picnic tap). There's a little rubber washer that seals the top plug.

Anyone know of a source for these? I know I can buy a bag of 1,000,000 for $0.14 at McMaster, but that seems like overkill (and a mild exaggeration).

I didn't know the disconnects could be disassembled. That's good to know. So is it a flat rubber washer, or an o-ring? Have you tried taking it to a hardware store to see if you can match it up?

Yes, you just put a screwdriver in the slot on top and the plug comes out.

I have not yet. It's a very thin rubber washer and seems like something hard to find, so I thought I'd ask here first.

I found at the local hardware store an 0-ring size "#28" that works perfectly in both pin-lock and ball-lock disconnects to replace the flat washer.

The flat washer usually gets lost or mangled as you take apart the disconnect to clean.

Time to clean my disconnects! I knew they came apart, I just never did figuring something inside would break or shred. I have a few o-ring kits that I use for a/c systems and other randomness while working on cars, I will give the #28 rings a try if it can be confirmed that they work, it should be added to the wiki in the o-ring section.

The collective knowledge here is staggering, it never fails to amaze me what we figure out!!!

We have replacement parts for BECKER Quick Disconnect fittings.
Becker has an angled top, "standard" QDs have a flat top.
