Holy crap! An absolutely killer box was there to greet me as I got home from vacation today! The only question is... What's in the growler??

Them some tasty brews haha. Growler is Cherry Sour from No Label Brewery. Hope you enjoy it!

So, I have to admit, I am waiting until the last minute to ship my box. I am headed up to the Grand Rapids area for a bachelor party this weekend and I plan to try to find some goodies. The general plan is to hit a ton of breweries in central and western Michigan.

Any Michiganders have suggestions for sour beer? I am going to swing by Jolly Pumpkin to hopefully get something rare-ish. We'll see.

I have my box ready to go . Just had another beer tonight thst i will be adding to it. Sorry to my recipient but I'm shipping last minute again. Having 2full-time jobs will leave you little time to do anything

I will also be shipping last minute as there is a cannonball run to Jester King planned for this weekend.

No problems in my mind :rockin:

I see a 15lb package incoming from IL.
:D
fwiw, I am entirely positive it's more than 15lb, I just always undershoot it when I print out the label, because they have been spotty on checking it, hence cheaper shipping.

Fedex near me is all younger girls.
Very easy to put a package down next to the scale, smile and have them scan it without weighing.

Caught onto that fedex trick after I noticed one of my regular trading partners had the weights at 1# for every box. Even though some were just a bomber or two he's slick.

Now more about this local fedex place with the cute girls that take care of you're package....

He said younger girls..not cute girls big mike! LOL Your fedex fantasy is coming through!

Im lucky enough to pay the shipping manager at my job in beer to send my packages out with the aerospace parts we ship. :tank:

Hope you enjoy. Those Lake Effect are all from the same base beer (the session). I really liked the regular and the from. Personally didn't like the grapefruit one but that is only because I hate grapefruit. People who like it thought it was great.

Fathom is one of my new favorite, easy to get (for now) sours.

The Berliner might be a gusher, but it is awesome.

Just realized I screwed up and forgot a beer... I had a Love Child 4 set aside for you too, but just checked my cellar and yep, forgot to pack that... Sorry about that 😕

Enjoy!

Syosset. Prob to far for you, but I have been to a few that just barrage you with questions.
"Whats in the box"
"Are you sure you packed it correctly"
"Do you need insurance"
"Would you like any packing materials for your next shipment"

Just SHIP the ****ing box!

Found this place and the difference in customer service is amazing.
Plus like I said, strike up a conversation or just smile and they wave it right over the scale.

Do you know If those 2 brothers sours are going into regular distro?
Both sound great

I'm not sure. The Fathom has only been out for a couple months, but the Tangent has been out for over a year. The first bottle of tangent I had was good, the second bottle a couple months laterwasn't, no carb anymore. But I'm not sure if that was a isolated issue or what. Luckily, the bottle that got shipped to abbeast was bought at the same time as my first bottle, and I cellar properly unlike the store most likely, so I'm hoping it's more like my first bottle. Fathom is much better though.

Edit: Just checked beermenus and it shows Fathom as being in a couple places in NYC, so guess some made it out there.

Any other boxes out? I know there are a couple that are waiting for beer runs and recipients' vacations, but I would have thought more than 4 boxes would have dropped 2 1/2 weeks in. Just having a beer porn withdrawal is all ;)

btw, not that it hasn't been proven with pics, but sorry I forgot to PM my tracking number two_hearted

Think a bunch of guys are away on vacay or still searching around for goodies. Anxiously awaiting mine!!!

Thx TrickyDick!!

I do get CC but not the limiteds! Also have had la folie, gose and sourdough but they were all solid and looking forward to them again. Have had my eyes on saint somewhere but never pushed for them. Thx for bringing them my way! Recommend aging the SS or drink fresh. I see they just dose with wild yeast at bottling.

SS Lectio Divina
SS Saison Athene
CC humidor American sour
CC Cumcumber Saison (huge want!)
NB Transatlantique Kriek
NB La Folie
NB Snapshot
Westbrook Gose
Almanac Wild Sourdough

Awesome haul!
Thx again dude!

Recommend aging the st somewhere. I am not entirely sure if the "lectio" is already 6 months old. I'd lay them up for at least 6 months to longer. They are open fermented as well. The funk will increase with time. The saison athene is significantly more funky from the start. The CCB sour may benefit from some age as well. It's about three months old. The almanac is about 6-7 months or more.

I saw seekabrew said you didn't get the NB stuff. The La Folie and Kriek are not going to benefit from aging.

I know this is off topic but figured it would be appreciated here as it has to do with Sours.

So I'm in Sweden at the moment visiting my wife's family. We were visiting a pub in northern Sweden which had a very nice selection of craft beers. They had about 8-10 beers on their "sours" menu, including Jester King Salt Lick'.

This demonstrates the absurdity of our distribution system: that I can't get JK in Minnesota but can if I travel thousands of miles to Sweden.

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to try it as we were there for a tasting of a local brewery (that and it cost $50/bottle).

Sorry for the de-rail, but it demonstrates in a dramatic way the reason this thread even exists.

3 Floyd's has distro in Denmark, other than that, not outside of the Midwest...

Not sure of this is the case here, but I've heard of some higher end bars/restaurants will have someone ship them high end beers from different countries to sell themselves. Obviously this doesn't happen in the US because of distribution laws, but other countries are a different deal...

Well I had lots of good sours in Michigan at this bachelor party. We spent about 5 hours at Founders and then went to Brewery Vivant, which is friggin amazing beer.

Anyways, none of the awesome sours were packaged, nor would they fill growlers. So, I just made a special trip to my hot spot and picked up some goodies. It'll ship out tonight.

I grew up in Grand Rapids, long before they ever had ANY craft breweries. It's annoying hearing from all my friends still living there about the great beer they have. Vivant is an often mentioned favorite. I tried emailing them (Vivant) to get some ideas and info about their beers to try and brew a clone but never heard back.

TD.
