My brown ale was running a bit on the cold side, and I am trying to get it done and carb'ed in time for some Christmas sampler packs.
The other night I check my gravity, after a week and a half I was still at 1.020, so I checked my temp strip, 58 degrees. The yeast strain wants 64-72.
Having never had an issue with temps in the past, I never put together a temp control system before, so I ran to Wal-Mart and bought a $20 electric throw blanket.
It shuts itself off after three hours and seems to insulate rather well. After turning it on a couple of times over the past two days, I have my beer up to 68 degrees and am actively fermenting again, WIN!
