Going by what is listed on Dechutes site, this is what i came up with for my clone attempt at Black Butte Porter, let me know what you guys and gals think, it will be a while before i brew(all my kegs are full lol)

Black Butte Clone Attempt



Type: All Grain
Batch Size: 5.00 gal
Boil Size: 8.00 gal
Boil Time: 60 min

2.00 lb Carapils (Briess) (1.5 SRM) Grain 18.18 %

1.00 lb Chocolate Wheat Malt (400.0 SRM) Grain 9.09 %
0.50 oz Galena [13.00 %] (60 min) Hops 25.1 IBU

45 min Mash In Add 13.75 qt of water at 170.5 F 158.0 F
10 min Mash Out Add 5.50 qt of water at 196.6 F 168.0 F
 
Deschutes isn't distributed here, so it's been a long time since I tasted it. But I would say you have WAY too much carapils. My preferred amount is 0, but if you must use it you can use 8 ounces.

I can't remember if there is a sweet caramel note or a toffee/raisin note, but for most porters I"d like a darker crystal, like 80L or even 120, depending on what you're looking for. . You have 18% carapils, plus 9% crystal 40. In other words, 27% crystal. Way too much, and I think way too light crystal.

I used Carapils because my beer smith program doesn't have dextrin malt in it, which is what the site called for, it has been 2 years since i have drank this fine brew myself so my memory isn't crystal clear on it either lol.
