Being half German (my mom's German) and having spent some time in Germany which is a VERY Socialist country, I just don't see how socialism has gained such a boogieman persona in the US.

For example, where would we be without Social Security, hell it's in the name, Food Stamps, I grew up a poor kid in the South with a dad who worked construction, I know quite well how food stamps work, and welfare, though we never had it, those are all quite socialist programs.

Now, as someone who's not as poor as my dad was I just can't get real torn up when I realize yes I might pay more $$ in taxes than someone who barely makes ends meet, but that means someone who is poor and might need some social help can get it.

In Germany, Obama would be a conservative right wing politician. Just saying.

That said, I tend to keep my political and religious views to myself, being from the South I know better than to pipe up with such views.

i ended up at a local watering hole with the mechanical bull... these two girls from the office party rode the bull together over and over enjoying the rest of the males at the bar paying much attention... thus the "you two should make out comments" they were cute and they should have made out.
