I have a bunch of clear Topo Chico bottles (a Mexican sparkling water). They're clear with enameled labels.

As far as I can tell, they should be fine for apfelwein, right?

Yes. Without hops there is no chance of skunking.

Good question jldc, I was thinking the same thing. I've got a 5 gallon batch still in the fermenter from early November. I do have several 1 liter swing tops but need a few additional bottles for the entire batch.

I want to just reuse the bottles the juice came in. They're plastic, think that will work?

Yep, clear bottles are fine for apfelwein. Ive actually been working on a case of newcastle half for the reason of wanting the bottles for my apfelwein. Should make it easier to distinguish. As long as you bottles are strong enough, you're fine.

Tony, the plastic Bottles are fine if you don't intend to carbonate it.
