I just got done brewing a clone kit from AHS, Smithwicks ale, AG. I dont normally get kits (I love making my own recipes) but when in Ireland I loved this beer and wanted to make it for St. Patty's day this year, and my own recipes have always fallen short.
Mashed like normal, and I go to sparge and wait....whats this? It's a nice, rich GOLD wort. Unless I am really off in my memory, Smithwicks was a deep copper/red. Has anyone else had this experience with this kit? I guess I should have been wary because there was no roasted barley in the grist, just 60 and 90 crystal, but I didn't even think about it. Not really mad, AHS is a great place, just venting a little
(I have no doubt this will taste great)
