Gould I be able to smell my beer coming out of the fermenter. Is it the pressure release valve releasing the smell. It's in my closet So I get a good scent coming out when I open the door. Thanks in advance for all help. Y'all rock

I am assuming that "pressure release valve" = airlock. The airlock is designed to keep a blanket of CO2 in the head space of your beer while at the same time allowing excess CO2 created during fermentation to escape so that pressure does not build in the vessel. While the excess CO2 is being off gassed it can carry smells from the fermenter with it. It should be completely normal. Some recipes will smell more than others.
