Bah! Kids will drink what they want. If the fashion is beer, they will drink beer. If it's wine coolers, they drink wine coolers.
Breweries who accept to brewing "American", or "Belgian" style beers may not do well with them. The old people won't try them, and the young people might not either. The success of a couple of breweries trying this doesn't indicate that a majority of them will. They could a passing novelty, not a real trend.
Also keep in mind that although our own craft beer industry has been growing greatly, the ratio of craft beer to macro swill is still minuscule. Many Americans are afraid of trying "dark" beer, or anything other than what their local football promotes, or what the bar in town has on special.
