Not necessarily a question, more of a story.

Last weekend I began a batch of skeeter pee, following the recipe off of the website mostly to a T. By the time I had gotten it in the carboy, I realized I had forgotten literally half of the sugar, as my SG was only 1.030! As I siphoned off some of the lemonade back into the pot to add the rest of the sugar too, all of the ceiling above me collapsed! Filling the pot with dry wall, covering me, and amazingly missing the carboy. Needless to say, the carboy was plugged and stashed away until I could get back to it today, 7 days later.

I suppose if a question were to be posed at all, I'm just curious on anyones opinion on the preservative levels since I wasn't able to aerate it to let them disperse. I personally feel that a week with only a cloth over the opening may have done the trick. Time will tell!

That's some story! Glad you are ok after all of that.

If the mix is in a carboy I would not expect the preservatives to gas off much at all. I use an airstone (with a filtered line) overnight in a carboy to gas mine off.

Thanks for a response. I should note that I should the crap out of the carboy before stashing it with only cheesecloth over the top
